LANXESS will expand production capacity of Macrolex Dyes in Leverkusen

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS will increase its production capacity for Macrolex dyes in the Bayer Leverkusen plant with an investment of more than 5 million euros and a 25% increase in production capacity, which will be put into operation by the end of 2018.
Philipp Junge, head of LANXESS Rheinland's chemical business, said: "We want to be able to meet the world's growing demand for high-quality dyes through expansion, especially in Asia.
Dominik Risse, Lanxess Colorant Additives Business Unit, added: "Product requirements are also stricter, and stringent requirements are increasingly important, especially in sensitive applications, especially LANXESS 'pure product as a market leader."
Risse added that the investment is also a formal certification of the Leverkusen plant, which represents a major investment by LANXESS in the paste business and will create additional jobs for Leverkusen.
Macrolex Soluble Organic Dyes are mainly used for coloring high-quality plastic products such as beverage bottles, electronic devices, car taillights and children's toys. The products are used in colored polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile butadiene Styrene (ABS), polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), and polyethyleneterephtalate (PET).
The LANXESS Pigment Additive business comprises 150 products in addition to Macrolex, as well as other high-quality colorants for a variety of sophisticated applications such as colorants in liquid crystal displays or writing instruments. The business provides colorings to more than 800 customers around the world Agents and pigments.
