To learn more about industry concepts and 5G readiness, Ericsson conducted a second global survey of leading operators that have announced their in-service preparations for 5G service. The survey report summarizes the findings of the 2017 5G progress assessment. 37 operators, a total of 50 technical experts and senior executives of 5G research interviews to explore the industry's 5G forecasting and preparation process.
In the past year, most operators have transitioned from the development phase to the pilot phase, with 78% of respondents saying they are in the pilot phase.
The 2018 survey conducted a more in-depth discussion on the industries in which operators were concerned. Top three media and entertainment industries ranked the top three industries by respondents, followed by the automotive and public transport sectors, healthcare and Energy and utilities tied for the third.
