Ministry of Commerce made preliminary ruling on anti-dumping on imported styrene

On February 12, the Ministry of Commerce released the preliminary ruling on the anti-dumping investigation of imported styrene originating in Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

MOFCOM initially ruled that dumping of imported styrene originating in Korea, Taiwan and the United States existed, and that the styrene industry in mainland China had been substantially damaged and that there was a causal relationship between dumping and material injury. It also decided that the styrene industry originating in Korea, Taiwan Regional and United States imports of styrene products in the form of margin implementation of the provisional anti-dumping measures.

According to the ruling, since February 13, 2018, importers should, when importing styrene originating in Korea, Taiwan and the United States, provide the relevant customs formalities in the People's Republic of China according to the dumping margin of each company as determined by the ruling .

Margin ratio is as follows: Hanwha Total, Li Chuan NCC 7.8%, LG Chemical, SK General Chemistry 8.0%, other South Korean companies 8.4%; Taiwan 5% of the company; the United States Ryan De Chemicals 9.2%, INEOS Styrolution America LLC 9.6% with Styrene and 10.7% with other US companies.

At the request of the styrene industry in Mainland China, the Ministry of Commerce issued a public notice on June 23, 2017, deciding to conduct an anti-dumping investigation on imported styrene originating from Korea, Taiwan and the United States.
