Mobile payments are widely available in China, ranging from the purchase of cars to the purchase of a cola, and many foreigners complain that they can not enjoy mobile payment because no locally registered bank account is used to bind WeChat payments.
From now on, foreigners living in China, as well as residents in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan of China, can bind and activate WeChat payment accounts with MasterCard, Visa and JCB credit cards, and Tencent said it can download the Chinese version of WeChat.
After activating the WeChat payment account, foreigners can use WeChat to pay taxi fares, rent shared bicycles and take-away and other takeovers in the same way as WeChat users in China.
2017 Tencent's report shows that nearly two-thirds foreigners in China are using WeChat payment services.
WeChat has reached 1 billion users worldwide and about 600 million in China. WeChat has become the most popular communication tool in China.
In the second quarter of 2017, China's mobile payment reached 23 trillion yuan, an increase of 22.5% over the previous year.
According to the statistics of the Chinese investigation agency, the current mobile payment market in China is mainly occupied by two major companies, Alibaba and Tencent, with market share of 53.7% and 39.1% respectively.
