US Department of Justice and SEC investigate Apple iPhone speed information disclosure is contrary to the securities law

According to Bloomberg reported on January 29, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating whether Apple's disclosure of information regarding the slowdown of old battery iPhone is a violation of the Securities Law.

Apple acknowledged last December that iPhone software could slow cellphone speeds in parts of the battery Apple said the problem is that aging lithium batteries can experience uneven power supplies that could trigger unpowered shutdown to protect the delicate circuitry inside the cellphone.

Apple later apologized in the official website, apologized for the handling of the battery problem and said that the iPhone battery replacement price dropped 63% from 79 US dollars to 29 US dollars.

Bloomberg quoted sources as saying the U.S. government has sent a letter to the company asking.
