Earlier this week, tech reporter Brad Sams reported the news that Microsoft has confirmed the news but did not provide details such as the size of the job cuts and the department involved.
According to Samus, layoffs affect about hundreds, not thousands, of jobs, and the layoffs will not reach the level of organizational restructuring in the past.
Samms reports that layoffs are due to the reshuffle of 3D, mixed reality and other Windows 10 applications and conceptual teams. Hybrid reality and 3D are key areas of Microsoft's Windows 10 update.
Microsoft currently has 125,416 employees worldwide, of whom 471,210 are working at headquarters in Redmond, Washington and in Greater Seattle.
