BASF Care Creations, a unit of BASF Chemicals and CTI Biotech, has developed a 3D tissue model of human sebaceous glands that was presented at the NYSCC Cosmetics Congress to show the waxes secreted in the sebaceous glands (in most skin cells) Protective substances (sebum in the human body) produce and regulate the success of the active ingredient. The study involved a 3D human sebaceous gland model using CTI Biotech, a research company that specializes in skin cosmetics, stem cells and cancer, recently installed a CELLINK BIO X 3D printer to develop a method of treatment for the latter. 3D human sebaceous gland technology creates and grows human sebaceous gland cell models that are bio-printed with custom and artificially layered skin cell models. "The 3D model developed by CTI Biotech is more relevant to human physiology and sebaceous gland metabolism than the current in vitro experiments." Dr. Sabine Pain, Project Leader at BASF, said: 'Our understanding of sebaceous metabolism is to develop and test the skin for the skin Advanced cosmetic bioactives for care applications, especially for oily skin. |
