Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation's Thai subsidiary, Mitsubishi Chemical High Performance Polymers Co. Ltd., began production of styrenic thermoplastic elastomers (TPS) in January 2018.
'TEFABLOC ™' is a core brand of TPS products from Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. The company produces and sells a wide range of products including olefins, styrenics and polyester elastomers worldwide, and its TPS products are used in a wide range of applications such as automotive , Building materials, electronics, food packaging and healthcare. TPS is currently in production in Japan, China, the United States, Europe and Brazil.
In South East Asia, so far the company has supplied TPS through the above export of production markets, however, the demand for TPS in Southeast Asia has increased in recent years mainly from the automobile industry and food packaging sector. In order to meet the strong demand side, the company decided to develop rapidly Thailand began TPS production.
With production started, the company's TPS product line in Thailand will be expanded to four brands, reducing lead time and delivering more solutions.
Mitsubishi Chemical will expand the TPS product line to meet the diverse needs of its customers while accelerating the growth of the high-performance polymer segment.
* Mitsubishi Chemical currently produces three products in Thailand, namely 'THERMORUN ™' - TPS for automotive airbags, 'TREXPRENE ™' - Sulfurized olefin TPS and 'SUNPRENE ™' - a soft PVC compound.
