To ensure the safety of our customer data, we are working with the industry to develop and deliver software and firmware upgrades to address the security breaches of Google Project Zero, also known as 'Specter' and 'Meltdown.' We have not yet received Any of these potential pitfalls have been used to get information about customer data, and we know that users are in urgent need of updates, and through this blog, I will introduce you to the information we must publish now and in the future.
More Information: Security Issues with Intel Products (Media Kit) | Latest Security Research Results and Intel Product Notes (Intel.com)
We announced some preliminary results of the performance impact yesterday. We now have updated data for some client platforms and share with you. We will continue to work hard and continue to announce the latest developments. We plan to announce in the next few days Preliminary data on server platforms. We will go all out to provide useful data as soon as possible. Please understand that our results may change as more tests occur, a common occurrence in such tests.
January 10 Performance Data Results
Today we released a couple of pieces of data on the sixth, seventh and eighth generation Intel® Core ™ processor platforms (using Windows * 10), and as we said before, the performance impact is not significant for most average PC users For these platforms, the data we publish today support this view.
For Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake with a solid-state storage device, the defensive measures have minimal impact on performance and are available on a variety of workloads, including the office software and media represented in the SYSMark2014SE benchmark , Is expected to have less than 6% impact. Users may be more affected in certain situations. For example, users of web applications that involve complex JavaScript operations may be more affected (our preliminary tests show that up to 10% ) Computing-intensive workloads such as graphically-intensive workloads such as games or financial analysis are the least affected.
Our tests show that the seventh generation Kaby Lake-H high-performance mobile platform is affected by the eighth generation platform (about 7% of the SYSMark2014SE benchmark).
For the sixth generation of the Skylake-S platform, our tests show slightly higher performance impact, but still substantially the same as the eighth generation, seventh generation platform (about 8% in the SYSMark2014SE benchmark). We also performed benchmarks on the same platform using Windows 7. Windows 7 is a common operating system, especially in the office environment, and the impact observed by the test was small (about 6% on the SYSMark 2014SE benchmark), even below System equipped with hard disk.
We will collect and publish as soon as possible information on more usage scenarios and more on Intel platforms and in the coming week we plan to provide representative data on mobile and desktop platforms introduced in the past five years. For those concerned about performance impact Of Intel users, we will work with industry partners to develop solutions creatively to minimize the impact on performance.
In addition to the current work on existing products for our customers, we will also work hard to upgrade the technologies in our future products to make every effort to ensure safety and improve performance.
We do not want to see any impact on the performance of our products, and we feel at home with our customers in this regard. However, the security of our product and customer data is critical. We will continue to work in partnership with our industry partners, Provide the best experience
