Germany Kiefel and Wattron will cooperate to develop the latest film forming technology

German plastics machinery supplier Kiefel GmbH and Watttron Innovation Inc. signed an agreement on long-term development and research collaboration to develop a 'future-proof' plastic molding solution for the industry.

Kiefel, headquartered in Freilassing, Germany, said in a January 4 statement that the company will continue to pursue excellence in quality and efficiency, especially in packaging.

Kiefel, which develops and manufactures plastic film processing machines, said Watttron's unique heating technology will be the basis for this development.

The Watttron company, headquartered in Freital, Germany, is co-founded by the Natural Material Technology Institute of Dresden University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging.

Smart heating systems developed by Watttron help to reduce material and energy consumption in the plastics industry by precisely heating the surface of the material with the help of square heating pixels.

Kiefel said: 'Thanks to the individual control of each pixel, this allows us to apply targeted, inhomogeneous heating of the film so that the flow of the plastic film can be optimally tailored to the desired shape '

Through this process, the processor can ensure uniform wall thickness, which can use 'thinner' film, greatly reducing energy consumption.

Thomas J Halletz, chairman of Kiefel, said the partnership aims to create a marketable solution for key industries such as packaging, healthcare and automotive.

Ultimately, Kiefel GmbH and its Dutch subsidiary, Bosch Sprang, and the Austrian subsidiary Mold & Matic's research team are all committed to the project to provide you with products that are always better.
