Lubrizol showcased its entire line of thermoplastic polyurethane materials at the recent Fakuma trade show, while ExxonMobil official said the company will introduce two new Santoprene TPVs by the end of the year.
Fabio Morelli, distribution manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, at Fakuma said: "We have many different types of TPUs to meet different customer needs." He added: 'We can make The materials are adapted to the process used, whether it is injection molding or extrusion or otherwise. "We are the only TPU supplier with this philosophy and product portfolio. '
Materials at Lubrizol in Wickliffe, Ohio, at the Fakuma show include BounCell-X TPU microporous foams made using Peugeot's MuCell micro-foam injection molding technology. Morelli said the foams can be used to compare Thick, low-density parts for footwear, sport and leisure, industrial applications and more.
Lubrizol also specializes in the use of Esthane TPU's LSZH flame retardant grades in wire and cable applications. The new products meet the robot and industry 4.0 requirements for flexibility and durability.
Morelli said that thermoplastic polyurethanes were originally intended to replace polyvinyl chloride in wire and cable applications but are now replacing older grades of thermoplastic polyurethanes.
Lubrizol teamed up with Danquinsa to launch a new aliphatic yellowing resistant TPU at Fakuma 2017. These materials are part of Lubrizol's acquisition of Merquinsa, the Spanish TPU manufacturer, in 2011. Morelli said that coatings for automotive, aircraft and other vehicles are in dire need of coatings Anti-yellowing properties.
Outside of plastics, Lubrizol is a leader in lubricants additives, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Investments Inc., with a total workforce of 8,300 and sales in 2016 Up to 6.5 billion U.S. dollars.
ExxonMobil's new Santoprene grades are primarily used for mold parts in automotive sealed glass duct passages, said market developer Hermann-Josef Holz, who is sampling the material.
He added that the new grades have good shape and friction properties and are well integrated with EPDM Holz says flexible sealing systems continue to attract customers' interest due to their lightweight.
As announced earlier, Houston-based ExxonMobil is expanding capacity at Santoprene, Wales and other specialty elastomers by 25% at its Newport, Wales plant.
