Counterpoint Research data show that the third quarter, Apple accounted for 60% of the global smart phone market profit, much lower than 86% a year ago.
Apple's profit share decline, mainly due to the third quarter of the old model iPhone sales increased significantly, thus affecting Apple's overall profit share.
At the same time, thanks to the strong performance of Galaxy Note 8, Samsung's profit market share increased significantly from last year to 26%, eroded the share of Apple last year, affected by the recall Galaxy Note 7, Samsung did not win any Profit share.
In contrast, China's smart phone makers Huawei, Oppo and Vivo all had third-quarter profit market share of more than 5%.
Counterpoint Research released a report last month that the global smartphone shipments reached a record 400 million units in the third quarter of this year with the top ten vendors holding 75% of the market. Samsung is the largest vendor with a share of shipments 20.6%, an increase of 9%. Apple's shipments grew 3%, reaching 46.7 million.
