Royal Dutch DSM, the global science company, recently announced that the company will adopt innovative methods to further promote the development of additive manufacturing business.
DSM has been influential in additive manufacturing for more than two decades through its Somos resin business for light curing (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP).

Integration of additive manufacturing related businesses targeting four market segments
Today, on this basis, the company is in the process of forming a new integrated business unit, DSM Additive Manufacturing, which will integrate all additive manufacturing-related businesses with the exception of SLA and DLP and provide fuse manufacturing (FFF) , And many years of research experience in selective laser sintering (SLS), multi-jet fusion, nozzle technology and adhesive jet process technology.
DSM will face four market segments first: healthcare, transportation, wearable and tools and electronics, all of which are at the forefront of manufacturing, and the prospects for additive manufacturing are bright.

"With Somos, we have gained a deep understanding of the needs of key segments in additive manufacturing and end-users," said Hugo da Silva, DSM additive manufacturing vice president. "We continue to achieve significant SLAs and DLPs Innovation, but this is only part of the additive manufacturing technology, and we hope to cover the entire field.
As part of DSM's future strategy for additive manufacturing, the company will adopt a "ecosystem." Through a new organization based on partnerships and collaboration, DSM will provide its customers with an open and flexible infrastructure.
Add additive manufacturing to the mainstream of manufacturing
'Additive manufacturing is rapidly evolving from prototyping at the brink of manufacturing into mainstream science, delivering enormous value and financial benefits to large industrial companies that ultimately benefit end users,' said Hugo da Silva.

DSM has facilitated extensive collaboration throughout the additive manufacturing ecosystem, such as the recent signing of the 'One DSM' Framework Technology Cooperation Agreement with Toyota Motorsports, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. Involved in the DSM business providing materials and technology to the automotive industry, including Somos, engineering plastics and Dyneema UHMW-PE fibers.
DSM also acquired HP multi-jet fusion material development kits to launch 3D powder development for multi-jet fusion DSM will work with Hewlett-Packard to develop 3D materials and bring innovative solutions to the market.
