As the VR application matures, the mainstream of HMD products will also change significantly.At present, the low cost, non-screen VR head-mounted devices are the main force supporting the entire VR device market, accounting for up to 58.8% of shipments. By 2021, the market share of such low-end products will be only 14.8%, and the stand-alone VR devices will see a dramatic rise in market share, from 3.7% in 2017 to 26.4% in 2021. The market share of VR equipment connected by wired technology dropped from 35% to 26.6% over the same period. However, due to the substantial growth of the overall market, shipment growth is still worth the wait.
As far as AR applications are concerned, IDC believes that commercial applications will be the most important source of growth momentum for AR, and the daily work of many employees will be fundamentally changed due to the introduction of AR technology.
