Apple Appoints New Sales Director for Indian Market | Rob the Market with Samsung Millet

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 19 (Reuters) - Apple Inc. has appointed Michel Coulomb as its director of sales in India, Reuters reported today.

Currently, India is the world's third-largest smartphone market, while Apple's market share is less than 3%, so Apple is currently preparing to force the Indian market in order to win more share.

Mr. Coopermbo joined Apple in 2003, prior to serving as managing director for Apple's Southeast Asia market, where Coopermbo replaced Sanjay Kaul, who had just been named Apple in India in May last year Marketing Manager.

Cow joined Blackberry's sales channel in India before joining Apple in 2011. Cowell joins Apple for the iPhone business in November 2011. Last year, Apple appointed Kaur as India's market manager, hoping to tap into a world of india.

But so far, Apple's performance in the Indian market is still not much improvement.Recent media reports said that the Indian government can not give Apple tax incentives, which will affect Apple's expansion plan in India.

Last week, the government of India raised the import tariff on handsets from 10% to 15%, and as a result, Apple on Monday raised the average selling price of iPhones in the Indian market by 3.5%.

Currently, the smartphone market in India is dominated by Samsung, as well as Chinese handset makers such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, and while the growing middle class in India is interested in the iPhone, the high price is prohibitive for many.
