ZTE launched four patents for overseas referrals invalid announcement review, the result is not optimistic

According to Li Junhui, a researcher at IPR Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, a few days ago, ZTE Corporation filed a patent invalidation claim against Matsushita Electric Industrial (USA) Intellectual Property Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation regarding the national patent The Patent Reexamination Board of the SIPO (hereinafter referred to as 'Patent Reexamination Board') successively announced two review decisions, both of which were "to maintain some of the validity and partly to invalidate."

On May 19, 2017, ZTE held separate resolutions regarding the 'Image Coding Method, Image Decoding Method and Apparatus' (Patent No. 02802818X) and the 'Dynamic Image Decoding Device and Method' (Patent Number : 2006101007963) A total of two patents, the Patent Reexamination Board filed a request for invalidation.

On December 13, 2017, the Patent Reexamination Board released the review decision on the above two patents, and the result was "to maintain part of the validity and to declare the partial invalid".

In addition, prior to this, around the unresolved patent litigation dispute between ZTE handset and Hitachi's Hitachi Maxell in the United States, ZTE also announced two of the patents involved, namely "camera module and camera device" 2007101961773) and 'Camera Components' (Patent No .: 028155475) filed an invalidation claim with the Patent Reexamination Board in China, and the result was also "to maintain the patent's validity".

Li Junhui said that it can be said that the review of the invalidation announcement initiated by ZTE's four patents related to overseas litigation is not optimistic. More than half of the patents have been maintained and some are still valid.
