Solvay, a specialty polymer supplier, recently announced that Apollo Medical Extrusion is now available in the market with single- and multi-lumen medical microtubes made from Solvay's medical Grade Veradel HC A-301 NT polyethersulfone (PESU) .
Apollo manufactures a wide range of tiny tubes for catheters, endoscopes and laparoscopic instruments Veradel HC A-301 PESU as a new addition to the product family greatly expands the scope of the extrusion product manufacturers to design both rigid and transparent Micro-tube disinfection performance of the product range.
"Often, we offer polymers in our product portfolio as solutions, but the Veradel PESU we are launching now is available to customers as a creative trigger," said Jonathan Jurgaitis, Senior Process Manager at Apollo Medical Extrusion. "The material's performance Superior to polycarbonate, it is more transparent than PEI and can be made into a multi-lumen microtube shape that stainless steel can not achieve.
Jurgaitis further added that one of Apollo's customers needed parts that were cut into tubes and then welded together using stainless steel. Apollo was made using the Veradel HC A-301 PESU in one step, saving customers a lot of processing time and cost.
"Although PESU is not specifically designed to replace stainless steel structural parts, it offers a more flexible design option for unsuitable stainless steel applications," said Jeff Hrivnak, Healthcare Business Manager, Solvay Specialty Polymers Global Business Unit. The high fluidity of the material is ideal for extruding thin-walled tubes with complex geometries and stiffness to the head of all Polysulfone polymers in Solvay, which explains why Solvay sees the market for Veradel HC A-301 PESU has tremendous potential as a revolutionary medical device. '
Solvay's medical-grade PESU polymers meet ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards for cytotoxicity, irritation and acute systemic toxicity and are vapor-stearic and resistant to chemical disinfectants. The company also supplies new materials Detailed FDA master documentation (MFA), and additional regulatory support to help speed time-to-market for your customers' products.
As a reliable supplier of materials to the health care industry, Solvay has over 25 years of extensive industry experience and is a leading supplier of polymers for healthcare products, offering a broad range of high-end medical devices, surgical instrumentation and medical devices Performance Plastics. Solvay also supplies the market with a range of Solviva biomaterials for a wide range of implants. Solvay's Veradel range of PESU polymers has a long established history of successful applications in the hospitality, membrane filtration and automotive industries.
