Clariant supplies catalysts for Xuzhou Heidi propane dehydrogenation plant

On December 8, specialty chemicals manufacturer Clariant announced that it has signed an agreement with Xuzhou Haiding Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. to work with its technology partner CB & I to develop a customized CATOFIN catalyst and create a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) This project includes the technical permission and engineering design of the plant to be built in Pizhou, Jiangsu Province, China.

The propylene design capacity at Xuzhou Haiding Plant is 600,000 tons / year. The plant will be based on Clariant CATOFIN catalytic dehydrogenation technology with Clariant's CATOFIN catalyst and heating material (HGM).

CATOFIN is a proven dehydrogenation catalyst that can be used in light alkane feedstocks to produce olefins such as propylene, isobutylene, etc. HGM is a patented metal oxide material that is packed with a catalyst to increase CATOFIN Device Selectivity and Yield To maximize propane conversion and achieve high yields of propylene, the process operates at the most favorable reactor pressures and temperatures for thermodynamics and uses catalysts with high selectivity. Market proven technology, CATOFIN with its optimized operating conditions, to achieve the maximum conversion rate and the highest selectivity.

The world's nine propane dehydrogenation plants with CATOFIN technology have been successfully put into operation, with an annual propylene production of more than 4.5 million tons. The plant operating with CATOFIN generally has a production capacity exceeding 110% of its design capacity and a factory-line rate of nearly 98% .
