BASF chemical catalyst production plant in Shanghai Caojing completed

BASF announced on November 30 that its world-class chemical catalyst production plant was officially opened in Shanghai. This is also BASF's first chemical catalyst production plant in the Asia Pacific region.

Located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Caojing, the fully-owned production facility of BASF is highly automated and energy-efficient and will mainly produce base metal catalysts and adsorbents for the fast-growing chemical industry in China and the Asia Pacific region.

Dr. Detlef Ruff, Senior Vice President, BASF Process Catalyst Business Unit, said: "The completion of this world-class chemical catalyst production facility marks another important milestone in BASF's process catalyst business, with chemical output accounting for the entire Asia-Pacific region by 2020 60% of which China will occupy more than half.

According to him, the new plant will rely on BASF's global experience in the operation of 11 sets of chemical catalyst production plants to produce innovative catalysts and adsorbent products using state-of-the-art production technologies, mainly for fatty alcohols, styrene, butanediol and other chemicals Styrene is used in the synthesis of polystyrene, which is widely used in packaging and building insulation applications. Fatty alcohols are used as detergents and surfactants for the cosmetics and food industries.

Detlef Ruff, PhD, emphasizes: 'Localized production helps to enhance our relationship with our customers in the Asia Pacific region, improve product availability and shorten lead times, and further enhance the customer experience. With the research and development resources of BASF APS in Shanghai, we Now we are able to provide our customers with the R & D and production services of the latest catalyst technology with local characteristics, and the new installation offers the possibility of future expansion and flexible adjustment according to the production needs of future customers. "

The Process Catalyst R & D Center at Asia Pacific Innovation Park in Pudong, Shanghai will support the new plant and will focus on the development of new process catalysts to meet the needs of the Asia Pacific market. With its strong R & D capabilities in catalyst preparation, amplification and performance evaluation, R & D center to further enhance cooperation with business partners in the region, to provide support for new chemical catalyst.

Dr. Ke Diwen, President of BASF Asia Pacific and President and President of Greater China, said: "As of the end of 2016, BASF and its partners invested a total of 19.7 billion yuan (2.5 billion euros) in Caojing to build a world-class production facility. Will directly promote China's industrial development and modernization. Our solutions help to improve the efficiency and sustainability of China's chemical and other industries, reduce the dependence on imports and enhance the competitiveness of customers through supply-side reforms. "China's supply-side reform Designed to adjust the market capacity and promote innovation.
