Demand from overseas markets rises | UK October car production up 3.5%

According to data released by the British Automobile Manufacturers Association, the UK's car production in October reached 157,056 units, up 3.5% from the same period of last year, mainly due to the declining demand in the domestic market due to the increase in demand in overseas markets.

According to data released by SMMT on Thursday, UK car exports increased 5% YoY in October, while demand in the domestic market dropped 2.9% YoY; in the January-October period, UK car production dropped 1.6% to 1,416,565 units. Last year, Of the car production hit the highest level in nearly 17 years, reaching 1.72 million, when it is expected this year will continue to grow.It is expected within 10 years, the highest car production will reach 1.19 million.

However, SMMT said on Thursday that the UK's car production this year is expected to grow to 1.73 million units, while the decline in output is mainly due to the upgrade of the model and the slump in the domestic market.

SMMT is still concerned about the sales volume in the domestic market. This year's auto output may become the first decline since 2011, and consumer confidence after the referendum in the EU and the government's efforts to increase environmental protection have a greater impact on the growth of auto sales.

Last Wednesday, the British government said that since April next year, the consumption tax of most newly-polluted new diesel vehicles will be raised, which is undoubtedly a heavy blow to the British auto industry.
