With the lithium battery industry continues to take the heat, the rights and interests of lithium enterprises battle more intense.
According to the Korea Herald, LG Chem confirmed on November 21 that the company and Japanese foundry Toray filed a petition last month in the Federal Court of the Eastern Michigan in the United States alleging that China Battery Enterprise New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (ATL) infringed its patent.
LG Chem said ATL's Safety Reinforced Separator (SRS) technology violated its patent application in the United States.
The separator is located between the positive and negative terminals of the battery and serves primarily to separate the positive and negative active materials from the short circuit due to contact between the positive and negative electrodes so that the separator together with the positive electrode material, the negative electrode material and the electrolyte is considered to be a battery- Big important material
The SRS technology referred to in this lawsuit was independently developed by LG Chem in 2014. This technology improves diaphragm toughness and enhances safety by applying ceramic to the diaphragm material and heating it, and SRS technology was patented in Korea in 2007 , And from 2010 to 2014, successively obtained patents in the United States, China, Europe and Japan.
According to the South Korean portal NAVER, while LGK filed a lawsuit against Infringement, LG Chem also applied to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) for a listing of some of the products of Chinese enterprises Dajiang and OPPO as prohibited imports and banned sales in the United States Products that involve a battery of infringing technology. Both companies use ATL-produced batteries.
LG stakeholders said that this is a lawsuit to protect LG intellectual property.
LG Chem, part of South Korea's LG Group and South Korea's largest integrated chemical company, is also a major power battery supplier and has supplied batteries for Volkswagen, Audi, GM, Hyundai and others.
Litigation New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as ATL) is a cell phone lithium battery manufacturing industry's 'invisible champion', is a main rechargeable lithium-ion batteries batteries, packaging and systems integration of high-tech enterprises .
ATL official website shows that as of 2016, ATL has been the world's No. 1 lithium-ion battery shipments for five consecutive years.Apple, Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, millet and other mobile phone manufacturers are ATL customers.
The data show that the founder of ATL was Zeng Yuqun of China, and the major shareholder of the company was TDK, a Japanese manufacturer of electronic materials and components. In 2011, ATL's automotive power division was spun off and Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) was set up in Ningde, Fujian CATL has become the world's second-largest power battery company in September of this year, with GII data showing that CATL's power battery output surpassed that of BYD in the first three quarters of this year to become No. 1 in China.
