Foxconn Apple responds to students assembling iPhone Incidents: Students work voluntarily

TechWeb reports November 22, according to "Financial Times" reported that Foxconn Zhengzhou factory use students to work overtime to assemble iPhone X.

Six high school students said they assembled cell phones daily at the Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou for 11 hours a day, and foreign media said it constituted overtime work for illegal intern trainees.

The six students said that in September this year, Zhengzhou City Rail Transit secondary specialized schools to Foxconn factory 3000 students, they are among these students.

Students aged 17 to 19 said they were told that working in this factory for three months was meant to gain 'work experience' so that they could graduate.

One student said, 'We are being forced to work here by our school, and this work has nothing to do with our learning.' She said she is assembling up to 1,200 iPhone cameras a day, but her training at school is becoming A conductor

The school refused to comment on foreign media.

After receiving the inquiry, both Apple and Foxconn acknowledged that they had spotted the intern's overtime work and said they were taking remedial action, but both companies said the students volunteered for work.

Apple said an audit revealed overtime work for interns, who said they have volunteered for pay and benefits, but they should not be allowed to work overtime.

Foxconn said: "All the jobs are voluntary and well-paid, but they do work overtime and violate the company's policies." The company forbade interns from working more than 40 hours a week.
