LG Electronics announced on Thursday (November 9, 2017) that it has entered into an agreement with Qualcomm at its LG Science Park in Magok, southern Seoul. The two companies will work on developing solutions for connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles in the future, A number of executives attended the signing ceremony.
Both companies expect to jointly develop the industry's leading next-generation interconnect vehicle product solution in the future, combining LG's automotive solutions and the advantages of interconnected vehicle components with Qualcomm's latest automotive communications chip technology.
According to LG Electronics, the two companies aim to develop in-vehicle network technologies that enable new technologies to achieve high-speed wireless data communications at speeds of up to 4-5 compared to the current long-term evolution (LTE) network technologies Times, and helps to drastically reduce communications latency by as much as 90% .It is estimated that the new program will play an important role in the next generation of interconnected car platform.
Under the agreement, LG Electronics and Qualcomm have formed a joint R & D center in the LG Electronics R & D Park at Seocho-dong in southern Seoul. The joint R & D center will be responsible for developing a series of interconnected car solutions and future technologies. These include: Network V2X technology.The two companies also plan to build a new R & D center in Magok in western Seoul by the end of next year.
V2X technology is based on mobile networks, which are designed to use the mobile network technology to achieve network connectivity between vehicles to create a safer traffic environment.
