CNOOC Successfully Developed China's First Underwater Oil and Gas Production | 'Nervous System'

Recently, the first underwater control system under the lead developed by CNOOC's Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. completed the system integration test in Tianjing Port, which marks that COOEC has completely mastered the research and development of underwater control systems, Control system localization laid the foundation.

As a "neural system" for subsea oil and gas exploration, the underwater control system is composed of umbilicals, underwater distribution units, underwater control modules, liquid fly-offs and telematics lines. It is mainly used to transmit command signals from the upper platform Underwater equipment, underwater equipment operating conditions through the control system, the signal is fed back to the upper platform. Thus, the operator can remotely operate the underwater equipment, while monitoring the underwater valve switch, wellhead and Offshore oil and gas flow, temperature, pressure and other data.

Prior to this, the technology of submarine control system was mainly mastered by some mature foreign companies and formed a monopoly on the market. In order to break this situation, COOEC has been actively deploying technologies related to subsea production systems since the 11th Five-Year Plan.

In 2014, COOEC undertook the project of "underwater control system and key equipment research and development" organized by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the main objective of this project was to develop a set of underwater control system loop suitable for deep water environment. The staff further integrated the resource optimization technology and successfully completed the research and development of the first underwater control system in China, laying the foundation for the localization and industrialization of the underwater control system.
