| Intel Optane SSD for the first time came to the consumer system. Recently, Intel released Optane SSD 900P series NVMe drive, using PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, the capacity of 280GB and 480GB. Intel will initially provide the SSD 900P as an additional card for the 280GB and 480GB models, and the 280GB model is designed for U.2 2.5 ".  Like the previous years, the Intel 750 Series SSDs, the Optane SSD 900P drives enjoy the data center's descent, using the same control chips as the DC P4800X, although different firmware eliminates some of the data center-specific features. Intel said that Optane's main selling point is the ultra-low latency (10 microseconds or less) of nonvolatile devices and the high random I / O performance of typical low-level queues for desktop workloads, like its Optane Memory cache, the Optane SSD Providing high performance at random workloads. Due to its low latency, Optane offers higher performance than NAND devices at low queue depths. Intel's own tests show that the Optane SSD DC P4800X can serve workloads even under 2GB / s random write pressure, and Intel also emphasizes Optane's endurance: 480GB drives are staggering 8.76 PB data volume, as a reference, which is the Samsung 960 Pro 2TB NAND SSD data written about seven times the endurance. |
